ARTIST RESIDENCIES AT VILLA DOSI DELFINI

The timeless art residency experience is extended to painters and sculptors in the period between September and October 2022 thanks to 12 scholarships provided by Fondazione Brivio Sforza.

The artist Vanni Cuoghi, selected by Galleria Rubin, is hosted for 3 days at Villa Dosi Delfini to produce sketches inspired by the places, spaces and territories that host him. The works will be completed later in atelier and will be displayed in a group exhibition in Milan in the courtyard of Palazzo Brivio Sforza, newly restored.

At the end of the residency, the artist offers two works, one to the owner as a thank you for their hospitality and the other to be auctioned off to create the scholarship fund for future residencies.

Vanni Cuoghi was born in Genoa in 1966, he lives and works in Milan. He graduated in Painting Decoration from Istituto Statale d’Arte di Chiavari (Ge) and got a degree in Scenography from Brera Art Academy in Milan. Between 1989 ad 1992 he worked as an illustrator for different Italian magazines and attended Disney Academy.
Until 2002 he decorated and frescoed interiors and exteriors of different churches and palaces, reinterpreting great baroque decoration elements.
In 2008 he frescoed the entire facade of the Santa Caterina’s church in Genoa with stories from the life of the Saint. The same year he participate in the 4th edition of “Allarmi” art show in Como. He shows also at Frieze Art Fair in London. He is present at Saint Petersboug Biennale (Russia) in section curated by Enzo Fornaro and he shows at Beijing 2008 -Artathlos –in China at the Hidian Exhibition Center. In Shangh he shows at collective exhibit “Masters of Brera” at Liu Haisu Museum

The artist’s achievements and awards over the following years are numerous, below are some of the most recent.

Since October 2015 is Professor of Painting Techniques at the ‘Academy of Fine Arts Aldo Galli’ in Como (Italy).
In 2016 he inaugurated at the Labs Gallery in Bologna a personal double with Marcel Dzama. Personal exhibition “Da cielo a terra”, the MEB Jewish Museum of Bologna and he was given the chair of Painting at the IED, Academy of Fine Arts Aldo Galli of Como.
In 2017 he held a solo show at the Francesco Messina Museum in Milan: The Invisible Sun. The exhibition is designed specifically for the space and offers a reflection on design as an autonomous language.
In 2018, in collaboration with the Nava-Arosio and Tessuti Rubelli studio, he paints four Pila47 armchairs that will be exhibited at the Rotonda Appiani in the Villa Reale in Monza.
At the end of May 2019 he inaugurated “The eye of the Storm”, a personal exhibition at the Rossi-Martino Gallery in Hong Kong. In October he inaugurates the personal exhibition “Esuli Pensieri” at the Balestra Foundation in Longiano (FC).
In July 2020 he inaugurates the personal exhibition “Apnea” curated by Elisabetta Sgarbi and with the support of M.Ar:Co at “Le Argenterie” in the “Villa Reale” of Monza.
In 2021 he inaugurates the personal exhibition Submariner at the Civico Acquario in Milan curated by Nicoletta Castellaneta and Ivan Quaroni. Cuoghi participates with the Italian Newbrow group in a public exhibition at the cloisters of San Domenico in Pietrasanta (LU) curated by Valerio Deho and Ivan Quaroni.
