Villa Marchese de’ Fabris is the splendid mansion dating back to the end of the seventeenth century, built at the behest of the Marquis Ottavio de Fabris on the occasion of his marriage to the Countess Savorgnan. Located in the hamlet of Begliano (San Canzian d’Isonzo), it is within walking distance (about 1 kilometre) from Trieste Airport in Ronchi dei Legionari.
An enchanting, charming and welcoming villa, surrounded by the green Gorizia countryside and its luxuriant vineyards, offers a splendid glance to the visitor to capture his gaze and take him into a rarefied dimension, full of suggestions and elegance. The Italian garden envelops the visitor with its secular trees, rose gardens and central fountain. Opposite, the central body embellished with a double stone staircase and around the buildings of the property with the consecrated chapel dedicated to St. Anthony with a Hungarian-made wooden altar complete the open spaces.
Under the staircase a large portico designed by the famous Trieste architect Ruggero Berlam (1854 – 1920) which houses a mosaic with the family crest. With two mirrored doors, one from the garden and the other from the street entrance, it welcomes visitors with its 4 columns, 4 doors and an entrance hall that houses a staircase that reaches the Ballroom on the first floor.
The Ballroom, which can also be reached from the double external staircase from the garden, has walls decorated in shades of antique pink embellished with white stuccos with an original painting depicting the King of Poland, a tribute by Ottavio de’ Fabris to the ruler for the title of Marquis.
The windows are decorated with elegant curtains. Adjacent to the ballroom, the fireplace room and the library room.
Adjacent to the lemon house and the central body of the villa, the chapel is still consecrated today and can be used for ceremonies.
Simple and intimate, it has a wooden altar dating back to the early 1900s of Hungarian manufacture. The ceiling is decorated with precious white stucco and gold designs and the gray Venetian terrazzo floor, with wooden benches, make the environment particularly welcoming and suitable for ceremonies of up to 20-25 participants inside.
