Le Dimore del Quartetto

Villa Albertini  was built between 1924 and 1926,  by the will of Alberto Albertini, writer, journalist and co-director of Corriere della Sera with the brother Luigi, and of his wife Paola Giocosa, daughter of Giuseppe Giocosa,  playwright, librettist and writer; both of them keen on the region of Valle d’Aosta.

The villa has been designed and realised by Achille Majnoni d’Intignano, architect of the king Umberto I di Savoia, and by the engineer Tancredi Aluffi d’Ivrea. It can be considered as an emblematic example of a new style of alpine bourgeois holiday house in the early XX century.

The external appearance, sober and solid, is characterised by a wall of stones, typical of the local craftsmen; the decors and furnitures are perfectly preserved. It is surrounded by huge green areas and it is located very close to the Savoia castle. Among the guests of Villa Albertini, we recall Benedetto Croce, Luigi Einaudi, Adriano and Arrigo Olivetti, Arturo Toscanini, Tatiana and Serge Tolstoji. The current owners are the descendant of Albertini’s family.
