The Magenta String Quartet, named after the vibrant boulevard in the heart of Paris, is made up of French violinists Ida Derbesse and Elena Watson—Perry, French violist Claire Pass-Lanneau, and Canadian cellist Fiona Robson. The quartet took form in 2021 when the four musicians came together with a desire to explore the rich string quartet repertoire. Having studied individually at a kaleidoscope of prestigious music schools including McGill University, The Guildhall School and Cleveland Institute of Music, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris was their common denominator.

In 2022, the Magenta String Quartet was awarded 3rd prize at the Zukunftsklang Competition Frankfurt and selected for the renowned ARD competition in Munich.

The Magenta Quartet was Ensemble in Residence at the 2021 Festival International de Piano à La Roque d’Anthéron and performs regularly in France, Switzerland and Germany,

at festivals including Instants de Grasse, and Klangraum Konzerte in Köln. The quartet will be featured on the upcoming album California Dreamin’ by French flutist Julien Beaudiment.

The Magenta Quartet is produced by Chapeau l’Artiste Production. They are also members of the European networks Le Dimore del Quartetto and Proquartet, as well as an Aspirant Ensemble of the European Chamber Music Academy. They study with the renowned Van Kuijk Quartet as well as Luc-Marie Aguera in Paris.
