Quartetto Rilke was born in 2022 from the strong passion for chamber music of its members. Named after one of the greatest lyric poets ever, Quartetto Rilke is the result of a common project between four young and motivated musicians with the aim of establishing itself in the context of young emerging Italian and European chamber groups.

In a short time the quartet has already received several acknowledgements, the latest of which is the prestigious title “Ensemble of the Year 2023” of Le Dimore del Quartetto, with the assignation of Fondazione Gioventù Musicale d’Italia Award, which includes the organization of concerts during the season 2024-2025.

In October 2023 it was admitted to the high specialization course for string quartet Cycle Concertiste under the guidance of Professor Miguel Da Silva (Quatuor Ysaÿe) at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional of Paris in October 2023. The quartet was also selected to participate as a scholarship holder in the edition 2023 of Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland’s International Chamber Music Campus, where it had the opportunity to study with Gerhard Schulz (Alban Berg Quartett), Heime Müller (Artemis Quartett) and Kuss Quartett.

Before, in October 2022 it was selected to attend the High Specialization Course in String Quartet at the prestigious Stauffer Center for Strings of Cremona held by Quartetto di Cremona and renowned guest Professors from all over the world, such as Alexander Pavlovsky (Jerusalem Quartet), Eckart Runge (Artemis Quartett), Kyril Zlotnikov (Jerusalem Quartet), Pavel Nikl (Pavel Haas Quartet), and it was reconfirmed to continue its training there for a second academic year.

In March 2024 the quartet was in residence at Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid for a cycle of lessons with Professor Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet).

Since the beginning of their studies the quartet has started an intense concert activity.

In October 2022 Quartetto Rilke was also selected to join Le Dimore del Quartetto. As part of this circuit, the quartet performed for Società del Quartetto, Società dei Concerti Trieste, Festival Bergamo Brescia, Teatro alle Vigne, Cité Universitaire of Paris and participated in the 2023 edition of Espresso Masterclass with the teachers Marc Danel (Quatuor Danel) e Peter Jarůšek (Pavel Haas Quartet)

The quartet also held concerts for other important music festivals and cultural institutions both in Italy and abroad, among which stand out Musée de la Vie Romantique of Paris, Istituto Italiano di Cultura of Helsinki, Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland (Kammermusiksaal Hochschule für Musik of Wurzburg), Forlì Musica, Emilia Romagna Festival, Teatro Menotti of Milan, Concerti di Primavera, Isole di Suono, Notti Trasfigurate.

The quartet will soon perform again in Paris at Amphithéâtre de la Sorbonne Université and in Italy for IUC – Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti and Musica con Vista.
