Founded in 2013, the Cesar Franck String Quartet is composed of four young musicians from Catania united by a shared passion for the great quartet repertoire. Its members all have extensive experience in high-level studies in both individual and chamber settings, have worked with internationally-renowned teachers and collaborated with world-famous performing artists. They have been quickly recognized as one of today’s most important Sicilian chamber ensembles.
The Quartet was selected by Simone Gramaglia (Quartetto di Cremona) to take part in Le Dimore del Quartetto, together with other prominent young Italian quartets, the Franck Quartet are regularly coached by Mikhail Kopelman, the legendary first violinist of the Borodin Quartet, and have been part of many concert seasons across Italy. In September 2015 they were accepted to the Advanced Quartet Masterclass at the Accademia Stauffer directed by the Quartetto di Cremona. They were the recipients of the 2016 scholarship of Le Dimore del Quartetto financed by Terna. In October 2016 the quartet performed for the Società del Quartetto in Milan. The musicians play on a string quartet built by Paolo Rabino given on a gratuitous loan by the collector Giovanni Accornero.
