Their interlaced career paths, their enthusiasm for research and their eagerness to communicate are some of the points that the members of the Quartet Altimira have in common . It is formed by Maria Florea, violin; Luís Peña, violin; David Andújar, viola; and Mariona Tuset, cello.

In September, 2017, Quartet Altimira was awarded a grant by Walter Stauffer Foundation so that they could study with the “Quartetto di Cremona”’s masters at the Academy Walter Stauffer in Cremona, and they were also invited to take part in the project “Le dimore del quaretto”, which merges architectural culture and chamber music.

The Quartet Altimira has been recognised and rewarded at several contests and festivals, such as the chamber music Contest “Mirabent and Magrans” of Sitges in 2019 (3rd prize), international Contest of music of “Les Corts” in 2019 (2nd prize), finalists at the international Contest “Paper de Música” of Capellades in 2016, at the “Podiums” of Sant Joan de Vilatorrada in 2016, and at the Contest of the International Festival of Panticosa in 2013 (1st prize).

It has recorded for Catalunya Música and Radio Radicale in Italy.

They are often advised by some members of the most recognised of quartets, such as Quartet Casals, Emmerson, Quiroga and Jerusalem.

At present the Quartet Altimira works on the recovery and spreading of Gaspar Cassadó’s quartets. This project has taken them to the revival of these quartets at “Casal del Metge” of Barcelona in March, 2019.
