Situated in the old centre of Amantea, it commands from on high the view of the town and the sea.
This historic residence was built in the second half of the XV century and restructured and extended after the earthquake of 1638.
It develops on three levels. On the ground floor, at the centre of the facade, the imposing entrance opens into an inner courtyard around which an open staircase rises.
Among illustrious guests to be mentioned who stayed at the palazzo Carratelli are the Cardinal of Benevento Vincenzo Maria Orsini who then became pope with the name of Benedict XIII and was received there on 14 June 1692. Another important visit to the Carratelli home took place in 1487 when Alphonse II of Aragon, to deal with military matters, went to the seat of the Carratelli family before retreating to pray in San Bernardino, seat of the Arciconfraternita of the Santissima Immacolata.
