Akhtamar, an Armenian legend. The quartet’s name comes from the Armenian pieces by Komitas/Aslamazyan, which the ensemble has been playing regularly since their foundation. Formed in Brussels in 2014, the ensemble was one of the six quartets selected for the Paris Philharmonic’s ‘tremplins jeunes quatuors’ in 2016, and in the same year they were awarded second prize at the Musiq’3 festival.

In 2021, the quartet was awarded third prize at the Johannes Brahms International Competition.

Akhtamar Quartet performs in prestigious concert halls and festivals all over Europe: Radio France Festival in Montpellier, the Concertgebouw in Bruges (Be), the MonteLeón Festival (Sp), and also plays in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Baltic States… and of course Armenia.

BRERA MUSICA | THE PROJECT

Brera/Musica is the project of the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan that explores and deepens the relationships between visual art and music, an integral part of the development of the academic, intellectual and artistic dimension of the Pinacoteca’s works.

From 16 March to 21 December, the musicians of Le Dimore del Quartetto, in dialogue with curator and art historian Alessandra Montalbetti, introduce the public to the atmospheres of the pictorial and musical landscapes that are the protagonists of this edition.

Concerts are online on the third Thursday of each month, starting at 6 p.m., on the website of the Pinacoteca di Brera and Le Dimore del Quartetto.
