Musica e Energia nel segno di Volta is an initiative that celebrates two extraordinary figures of the 18th and 19th centuries: Alessandro Volta, the great Italian scientist, and Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the most famous composers of all time who, although working in different fields, left an indelible mark on history with their innovative spirit. This project explores the symbolic link between the two geniuses, using chamber music as a metaphor for the energy and influence their discoveries and compositions have had on the modern world.

For the second year, Tempio Voltiano in Como opens its doors to classical music, a unique opportunity to listen live to a string quartet in a circular space, ideal for perceiving the vibrations of these extraordinary instruments.
A new feature of the 2026 edition is the involvement of schools, with dedicated sessions for students and concert talks designed to introduce younger generations to active and mindful listening. In addition, each concert is preceded by an introductory talk organized in collaboration with the University of Insubria, guiding audiences in exploring the connections between the musical repertoire and major scientific theories.
Musica e Energia at Tempio Voltiano is part of the celebrations organised to mark the bicentenary of Volta’s death in 2027.

Tempio Voltiano is an elegant neoclassical museum on the shores of Lake Como, dedicated to the life and discoveries of the famous Italian physicist Alessandro Volta, inventor of the electric battery. The building, designed by architect Federico Frigerio in 1927 on the occasion of the centenary of Volta’s death, has a circular ground plan and is inspired by the temples of Greek and Roman antiquity. Its façade is embellished with Ionic columns and decorated tympanums, giving the temple a monumental and solemn air.
Inside, the museum houses a large collection of personal items, original scientific instruments and documents relating to Volta’s inventions. Among the exhibits are models of the battery, telegraphs, electrophores and other experimental devices. The rooms are adorned with elegant decorations and frescoes, making the visiting experience not only scientifically interesting, but also aesthetically pleasing. The Tempio Voltiano is a symbol of Como and a lasting tribute to the ingenuity and scientific legacy of Alessandro Volta.
