PROTEAN QUARTET
Javier Aguilar Bruno, violin
Edi Kotler, violin
Ricardo Gil Sanchez, viola
Clara Rada Gomez, cello
Protean Quartet was born in 2018 in Basel. It takes its name from Proteus, the Greek deity of the sea, which in turn is the etymological origin of the noun ‘proteus’ as the intrinsic quality of something that frequently changes form, effect or opinion. Thus, Protean Quartet identifies with a critical spirit in permanent revision and constant dialogue with the music and among its members, in search of new ideas and creative impulses.
Motivated by curiosity and a passion for ‘Historically Informed Performance’, the ensemble focuses primarily on rediscovering the stylistic, rhetorical and technical aspects of musical language from the Baroque to the Classical and Romantic periods.

BRERA MUSICA | THE PROJECT
Brera/Musica is the project of the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan that explores and deepens the relationships between visual art and music, an integral part of the development of the academic, intellectual and artistic dimension of the Pinacoteca’s works.
From 16 March to 21 December, the musicians of Le Dimore del Quartetto, in dialogue with curator and art historian Alessandra Montalbetti, introduce the public to the atmospheres of the pictorial and musical landscapes that are the protagonists of this edition.
Concerts are online on the third Thursday of each month, starting at 6 p.m., on the website of the Pinacoteca di Brera and Le Dimore del Quartetto.
