Discovering Cultural Heritage through Music
Do Re Milano – Alla Scoperta del patrimonio culturale attraverso la Musica (Do Re Milan – Discovering Cultural Heritage through Music) was created to alleviate situations of educational poverty of children aged between 6 and 11 years from peripheral and semi-peripheral urban areas of Milan characterized by socio-economic fragility.
Culture and music represent a central resource for combating educational poverty and reducing social, cultural and economic marginality.
The Do Re Milano project creates paths of discovery of cultural places through music, transforming them into creative spaces.
Through active participation, boys and girls discover their passions and cultivate creativity, imagination and emotions.
The primary schools in Milan involved in the project are I.C. Cardarelli-Massaua, I.C. Arcadia, I.C. Alda Merini, I.C. Rinnovata Pizzigoni.
A MUSICAL ITINERARY
WHERE
NOTES
RESONATE
At the ‘G. Verdi’ Conservatory of Music in Milan, boys and girls discover the history of the conservatory, participate in open rehearsals and come into contact with musical instruments of all kinds. During the visit, Maestro Leonardo Ramadori leads a music workshop in which the students are transformed into a small orchestra.
WHERE
STORIES
REST
At the Casa di Riposo per Musicisti – Giuseppe Verdi Foundation young students have the opportunity to meet the resident guests, retired musicians who tell the younger generation about their encounter with music.
The stories of the guests of Casa Verdi are accompanied by graphic representations created in real time by visualiser Monica Diari of Forme Connesse and the contribution of a young musician who evokes the scene from a sound point of view.
WHERE
MUSIC
DWELLS
Villa Arconati welcomes the young students and their families, and the Augusto Rancilio Foundation accompanies the participants through the spaces of the Villa. The groups have the opportunity to take part in a conversation-concert with a string quartet by Le Dimore del Quartetto about the relationship between chamber music and the spaces of historic residences. The day ends with the violin-making workshop “Le Mani Sapienti” by the Fondazione A.C. Monzino: young students can approach the art of violin-making and try their hand at building an instrument.
