IL QUARTETTO, QUESTO SCONOSCIUTO
Brief History of the String Quartet
curated by Simone Gramaglia e Chiara Lijoi
The Giorgio Cini Foundation has hosted the first online format in live streaming signed by Le Dimore del Quartetto. The idea is born within the Archipelago project, the concert season organized in Venice at the Auditorium Lo Squero, in collaboration with Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Jeunesses Musicales Italia and Fondazione Walter Stauffer.
Simone Gramaglia (artistic director of Le Dimore del Quartetto and Archipelago, as well as the viola of the Quartetto of Cremona) together with Chiara Ljoi have conducted three episodes about the string quartet world, discovering composers and repertoire through stories and anecdotes. To enrich the exchange, each episode has seen the presence of a guest from a different background: a scholar, a musician, a philosopher.
The episodes have been broadcast live in Italian on the Fondazione Giorgio Cini’s YouTube channel and they are now available on the YouTube channel of Le Dimore del Quartetto. Also, we have prepared music playlists (available on Spotify) and reading suggestions for the most curious ones. Check them out below!
